Default little startup issue

ok you gies......if you dont know i have a 06 tc with 48k miles on it..and recently i noticed that when i go to start the car up it sounds like its hesistaing to startup (first time each day) i mean it will start but with a hestitation then with it does it jumps very quickly to 2k rpm which is normal from what i heard then drops down to 1500 rpm then finally down to 800 rpm when all said and done....

its not a smooth start up like it use to be...but im thinking maybe the spark plugs are worn out and having a little issue producing a spark..cause when the car is all warmed up its fine no problems but its only when the car is first starting up...its weird....i step on the clutch i turn the key to on position for 5 secs then turn the ignition on...little hesititaion then finally catches and quicly goes to its procdures almost like it was having a hard time catching a spark....i know its not normal on what im experiencing but just thought i would ask.... please dont bite me

The spark plugs should last nearly 100k, so that might be unlikely.

Does the engine crank and just doesn't fire up? Or do you not even hear it turn over?

mine does the same thing. I have intake header exhaust. It seems like it isn't firing.

though the spark plugs "should" last nearly 100k, the stock plugs in my xb were shot after 25k.. the gaps had all opened up quite a bit and the electrodes were chipping.

put in some irridums, and i check em often now to be sure there is no oil blow by, fouling etc... no issues now.

Maybe the same problem in the TC, its an easy check that takes only 5 min, just have some anti sieze ready when you reinstall the old or get new plugs.

Also, you may want to check your battery terminals for corrosion, and check to see that your frame ground is making good contact..

engine cranks..fireups fine..everything starts.. its cranks over then small hasitation then finally the engine starts... its werid to explain but ill do my best

Reset the ECU by disconnecting the negative battery terminal for a few minutes. That will reset all fuel trims.

It's under the tires JK Just follow the main lead off of the terminal to see where else it is grounded. Many cases the ground goes off to 3 or 4 main grounds like the motor/tranny/chassis/firewall/fuse and relay panels etc.

The tC already has iridium Denso plugs. Surely they could be checked... but it's just unlikely.

4 to 5 sec is a long time for the car to crank. Mine fires right up 07 @ 52k.
