Default Maintenance Light only for oil?

Is the maintenance light only for oil? Mine came on after just about 2000 miles of new synthetic oil. I checked my oil, and it's full and clean. Has anybody else had this problem?

The Maint Req'd light serves one purpose: to remind you maintenance intervals. By default it is set to a 5000 mile interval. Now this has absolutely zero to do with when you actually last changed your oil. It ONLY has to do with when the light was last reset (which is in your Owner's Manual, btw).

It will start blinking when you start the car 4500 miles after the last reset and will remain on solid 5000 miles after the last reset.

It has no idea when the oil was last changed or anything was done - it is ONLY an interval reminder.

Many people seem to misunderstand that part.

The Mobil1 filter should be M1-103.

But I reset it about 2000 miles ago, right after I finished changing my oil. And now its on constantly...

Either you didn't reset it properly or instead of resetting it, you changed the interval to 2000 miles (definitely possible).
