Default Manual Transmission Fluid

What exactly is involved with changing from one fluid to another? Is it as simple as draining and then putting the new one in or do I need to get it flushed at a garage? I am thinking about picking up that new stuff from Dezod, I did a bit of research and apparently it is the ballz.

Any help would be appreciated.

I just swapped mine over to royal purple. Very easy to do, I had the car up on jack stands for an oil change anyway, so I did them both at the same time. Get the car up, level of course, drain the oil fluid by opening the drain plug, then open the fill plug so it drains a little faster. Once it's drained, put the drain plug back in, fill through the fill plug until it starts to drip out, and put the fill plug back in. Simple as that. I was reading a shop manual and it said that both fill and drain plug bolts should be torqued to 36 ft/lbs. I believe.

Almost forgot, the fill and drain plugs are just a little bigger than 7/8" socket. I know my set didn't have anything bigger, but the one I ended up using was 1 inch I think. Just make sure you have a couple sizes bigger than 7/8" when you go to do it.

I believe its a 15/16" plug. I use redline mt-90. In my other scion i changed the fluid at 10,000 miles. Take out your air filter and piping. Look down and you will see a plug. Thats the fill plug. Take that out first just to make sure you will be able to fill it. Screw it back in hand tight. This is so when you take off the drain plug it doesnt gush all over the place. Word of advice, get yourself a funnel with a long nozzle. I tried the pump method where you have a vacuum hand pump and this thing sucked. Good luck.
