Default misshifted and redlined at 8000rpms

I was flooring my car the other day and i misshifted from 3rd going to 2nd instead of 4th.... I have the twm stage II shortshifter and its really easy to misshift... What can check to make sure my engine is okay? when i misshifted i heard a loud bang and snap under the car... I'm just worried that i might blow a rod outta nowhere...

I did the same thing once, but i hit reverse instead of 4th. Loud crack, 30 foot strip of rubber on the road, engine stopped and then restarted on its own, scared the ____e out of me, but that was about 2 months ago, and everything is fine. I guess thats toyotas quality

if theirs no pistons sticking out then your half okay.

compression check is a must.

3 -> 4 shouldnt be a problem, maybe you were leaning on it.

Always, always, always handle the shifter with an open hand! That way, if anything, you will overshift and that is NOT anywhere as near of a problem as money$hifting!

Also, don't bang the shifter into gear - that way, you'll feel the resistance from the synchros when you do something like 3rd-2nd and you'll instantly know something is wrong

but lesson learned, and you are ok, that's what counts

BTW, you can't get into reverse while you're moving forward. Even if somehow you managed to make it happen, everything (everything) in your drivetrain would literally explode.

Heck, in our cars if you're moving even 1 mph forwards you'll thump into reverse (not good), anymore than that and can you say GRINNDDD

Dude, you went into reverse... You would have had to push the shifter very hard to get it into reverse at those speeds. IT's amazing the whole tranny didn't fall out rite then and there. VVTI24, you said you've done this twice? OMG, that's not good man. You need to work on your shifting. I did it once when I had my tC, 3-2 instead of 3-4 at about 70 mph, it redlined real hard and chirpped the tires. I had the car another 10 months and never had a problem. Those toyota engines are bullet proof! Relax, and don't ever do it again or you loose your scion privilages. And elpresidente, quick knockin' everyone with a stick. Don't hate the third pedal!

You are probably ok. If you take the time to do a compression test, do a leakdown test as well. That will tell you a lot more.

he's just jealous and trying to feel better about it..

and yeah.... you don't need to put any pressure horizontally on the shift **** at all... seriously... going from 2nd to 3rd.. and 3rd to 4th should be effortless...
