Does anyone know what this problem is? I have a 2005 Scion tC and it starts missing around
1500 rpm to 2500 rpm, after it hits 2500 rpm it clears out and the car runs fine.

It idles fine and from a dead stop it's OK when under 1500 rpm.

Any ideas?

My guess is fuel pressure too low.

Check easier things first. Air filter, spark, etc.

 

That's what started happening to me when one of my coils went out. Eventually got to the point of barely running, had to baby it home one time after it almost stalled crossing over railroad tracks. Definitely check spark plugs, wires, and coils.

 

1. vacuum-leak. Measure vacuum in intake-manifold at idle. Vacuum = ???

2. measure fuel-pressure in fuel-rail at idle. Pressure = ???

 

Throttle body and MAP/MAF senor cleaning might help.
