I don't foresee the angle of the valves changing, as you would have to completly re-design the head for that. Do you mean the angle of the throat? This would have a crucial impact on not only low end torque, but also power overall. Porting is not just making it bigger, it's making the air flow smoother and in a better path.

Let's compare a 90-92 Mitsubishi head versus a 98-99 head. The port are smaller intake and exhaust on the 98-99, but why do they make similiar power all things being equal? Velocity. The air on the 98-99 heads comes in and leaves at a much better angle, thus, moving the same amount of air through a smaller space. A lot of big power DSM'ers are relocating the exhaust manifold studs to further change the angle of the exiting mixture.

If you are going to get cams and springs, I think a 16g might be a bit small for your application, as you should be able to wind the motor out a bit farther, thus, increasing your powerband. If you can get 10psi by 3000 and shift at 7000 stock, why not upgrade your turbo and get boost at 3500 and shift at 8000, make more power with a larger band

i just ordered a CC catback with borla muffler and i'll also have the alphawerks header by early next week. right now i have just the weapon r intake with ram air kit also. i've also ordered the weapon r cold air box, so by next weekend i'll do a dyno with intake, headers, and full catback exhaust.
yellot00tr, if you can post a sound clip after you install the header and that catback, it would be MUCH appreciated. I've been really wondering if that combo would sound really raspy or not. Heck, even if you could just describe the sound, I'd be happy

I'm really eager to see the dyno too, if I don't go with the TRD supercharger then i'm planning on doing the exact setup that you'll be dyno'ing.

honestly, no disrespect, but it's a mystery to me,....i am amazed as to what lengths ($)people are willing to squeeze the hp/torque out of this less than $20,000.00 car with a camry motor. for the per hp price you are trying to gain, one could buy a car designed with the performance desired and the additional hp coulda' been in the loan?!.... just me but the body ain't that special.

lol tell that to the honda crowd hehe

it's about the fun in modding. It is a love affair with the car you got. It is not just about going and buying a boring stock car that already has it.

i.e. I could buy a saturn or a cobalt that has 200hp, but at the end of the day ... it is still a saturn or a cobalt. ew.

I dont know, but it sure sounds like this guy is trying to put a damper
on our fun. It may be true that more money is spent than gain is
worth but it make one's car there own, unique, and gives a sense
of accomplishment.

Hoo-rah for those who try.

exactly-doing the stuff is half the fun. not only that, but most tc owners love the way the car looks, the design, and etc. i car just looks awesome imo. obviously we coulda spent the money on a higher monthly payment, etc for a diff car, but we like this car. honda owners do the same stuff to. i saw a $100,000 civic at englishtown last year for whatever the event was. i don't think there was a single stock piece on the car, except maybe the dash. the guy could've gotten anything else and instead chose a civc. go figure. on another note, my exhaust will be here on the 22nd. header will prob be here the following monday. so it may be the following weekend before i have a dyno of header/intake/exhaust. however, next weekend i'd have no problem doing a dyno with just the intake and exhaust. i'm actually pretty interested to see exactly what the catback pushes. i hope it's near the 12hp that CC dyno'd, but for whatever reason, the stock hp numbers they got were low. hopefully that won't have a huge affect the 12hp number, but it might. if this exhaust really pushes 12hp, hell, if it pushes 8 or 9hp, i'll be satisfied.
