Default Need a time for repair

I had just taken my tc over to have the ce light checked you. They forund that they gas cap was bad. They did replace it.
What I want to know is if anyone has a mechanics book that tell how long it should take to test the evap system? It took them 4 hours to check the evap system, and replace the gas cap. I am wondering what the manual says the amount of time it should take to do this. I know that presurizing the system only takes a few minutes, and then looking for the leak.

im ASM for toyota/scion
depending on how busy the dealer is, scan for the CEL should take no longer than an hour. since they tested the evap system (using smoke machine checking for leaks)
it should have taken a total of maybe 2hours

its because there are cars ahead of you.

but you had an appointment time? it doesnt matter if the yhave cars before yours they will have to finsh there's usually before they can move on to your car.

thats why teh dealer takes forever.
and thats why i never tak my car to the dealer.

i've had the same problem as you did with the CEL for EVAP cap and it took about 4 hrs

Bandit, that is what I am saying. I had made an appointment a few days earlier and you would think that if a car came in that did not have an appointment they would take car of mine first, or not get started on the other one till mine was done.
When I took my car in for the recall on the windsheild it took them about 2 hours. I had made an appointment about 2 weeks in advance. I don't see how cleaning a piece of glass then sticking a piece of vinyl on it should take more than 10 minutes.
Oh, well, I will let them know that I was not satisfied when they send me a survey.

thats wut the survey is for. and i am sorry your dealer puts you through this, its not cool in my opinion. 2hours for the recall?? they do take off the deflector piece, but it doesn't take 2hours. i did mine myself in about 30mins
as for the 4hours WITH an appt. for the evap system, give me a break!!! unless the techs are retarded, or the machine was broken, they don't have an excuse.
