Default new help with turbonetics turbo

I have just purchased a 2007 tc for my son. I knew that it had a turbo but oooooh boy this thing is way too fast and dangerous for my 17 year old son.

the kit is a turbonetics kit with a raptor bov and an evolution waste gate
i need to tune the turbo waaaay down or I need to take it off.

Im open to your thoughts.

Just take the spring out of the wastegate, unplug your aftermarket engine management behind the glove box and now the car is basically stock with some shiny stuff under the hood.

Just put a smaller spring in the wastegate so it's not boosting much and get it retuned

Yes I'm sure It's not going to damage the turbo and no sense in spending all that money to take away some of the horsepower in my opinion. Just take the spring out, unplug the piggyback ecu and swap injectors depending on what size and youre golden. Then whenever you think he's responsible enough to handle it, about 30mins of labor later, you almost have double the power over stock.

If you change the spring out, it will build less boost and thus less power. The scion tc turbonetics kit comes with an 8psi spring. Here is a 3psi spring, this will drop your power down alot.

I wouldnt bother with a retune if the current on works. You just wont be running as high up in your boost maps. Same thing happens when you shift before full boost.
