Hello, I have a 2008 scion tc with about 200k miles on it (mostly highway miles). There is a new whining type sound coming from the engine. It does not make the sound when the engine is cold, only after the engine heats up a bit and is most pronounced when it is idling or going slowly.

I have diagnosed this to be from the engine one of my mechanic friends already ran the engine with the belt off and it still made the sound.

I have uploaded the sound on the already heated up engine, it is pretty quiet in the video so you might need to turn the volume up all of the way to hear it.

This is the sound when i turn off the engine, its like a fading out sound.

It is a pretty old engine so I know its normal for it to start to go but maybe it is a fixable part of the engine. If anyone knows what this issue is or thinks they know I appreciate any help with this matter, thanks guys.
