Default NGK plugs for tC?

Just picked up NGK plugs for my tc.

I was ready for a big price per plug but they were only $1.80 each !

Something wrong here?

And are these plugs any good ?

NGK BKR 6es-11

Thanks

Guessing by the price alone, you didn't get Iridium plugs.

They're fine to use, just won't give you near as good of performance as the Iridiums and will wear out a lot faster. Iridium plugs are 100K mile wear items.

the stock plugs are iridium and the suggested/recommended/best ones you're supposed to use.

the ones you bought are cheap crap. they are not good.
yes, something was wrong when you bought them.. as you shouldn't have.

do yourself a favor, go get the correct plugs (Iridium). Look at the center tip on the new plugs, notice they're NOT the same diameter as the ones you took out? That's because the tip is a finer tip on the Iridium. the correct ngk part number to replace the ngk you took out is NGK part no. 4589. That's what should be used.

Running copper won't cause any damage to the car.

I'm at 60k right now haven't change out my plug yet, when I was at 40k? trying to swap em out, thought that I had regular plug came out to be Denso Iridium plugs, so I put em back, they still seems pretty good condition, I think I'll use those NGK Iridium now!!! had to take apart the sway bar.

Also another question for you SL folks with experiences!
my Injen filter I had on for 60k+ already without any services, they pretty dirty, I see those filter recharge kit at autozone and pepboys, does those works? or it's better off buying a new filter? thanks folks..

To be on the safe side, you may want to run what is recommended by the factory which are the Iridiums. You can probably get them for cheap, but I remember paying $25 or so for my set of NGK Iridiums when I swapped them out at 50,000 miles.

i think 25 dollars for a set of Iridiums is a CHEAP price to pay considering they last almost the life of most cars...

regardless, you wont do any real damage to the car running cheaper plugs, it just means that youll have to replace it again sooner.

Iridiums>all other types of plugs. Been proven over and over again.

SW07tc, of course those filter kits work. Of course you risk not putting enough oil or too much oil back on the filter which can ruin the maf or not catch all the dirt and grime. I always just buy a new filter, and it really doesn't matter which brand either. Spectre filters are identical to that of Injen and can be bought at most local auto stores.

Properties of Materials

Material / Thermal ConductivityW/(m•K) / Electrical Conductivity MS/m

Copper / 384 / 57
Gold / 310 / 45
Iridium / 147 / 18
Platinum / 70 / 10
Nickel / 59 / 10

IMO, with oiling cotton guaze air filters I've always just erred on the side of too-little-is-just-right. Better that than oil-fouling sensors (even though there's really only a slim chance at that).

Hey brett, you know of an 8 heat range resistor plug? All I can find is non-resistor and my car seems to not like them lol - Im currently running the iridium 8's and they work great, but dont know if I want to spend $35 every time I foul up a set of plugs :/

Thanks for the fast reply! I've already bought myself the K&N Recharge kit for $11.99 so I'm gonna just take time impatiently let it dries before I put it back on.
