I would save up and get the TRD s/c, scion speed turbo stage 1, or even greddy's when it comes out. You'll be happier in the long run.
I thought all Nitrous kits required heavy engine work to use. Does it depend what size shot you're running?

There's a kid who frequents an aftermarket shop around here, who claims he blew his pistons THROUGH HIS HOOD running a larger shot than reccomended in a stock engine. Any truth to that?

Nitrous oxide provides the oxygen that allows an engine to burn more fuel, more burned fuel equals more power

so basicly it is like adding a super charger or turbo to a car but insted of it being there all the time its only on when you activate it. like any thing to much will hurt the car try putting in 20 psi of boost in your stock tc and it wont go to far before it blows but 9psi in a tc should be fine its the same with nitrous oxide to much is bad but there is a such thing as a safe amount

I believe the rule is no more than 20hp per cylinder when shooting on a stock motor.
But you will need a colder plug to prevent detonation. I think the Denso # is IK22
If you ask me the perfect kit for the tC is probably the NX import kit (stage-1).
Part# 20923-10
