Default no speedometer, throwing p0500 code, multiple lights

OK so my wife's 06 TC had some problems the other day... it was blowing the ECU-IG fuse, happened 3 times. I brouhgt it to a very good mechanic friend of mine and of course by the time it got to him that problem was non-existent. But, although it wasn't blowing that fuse anymore and the associated compnents of that circuit were working, the speedometer was dead, and the ABS and low tire light are both on.
He traced it back and narrowed it down as much as he could with the equipment he has and determined that the ABS module was the culprit and could have bee the initial problem as well. He thinks that by the time it got to him the module had fried completely and therefore wasnt blowing fuses.

I want to avoid the stealership. Your thoughts?...

No simple way to do this.

It could be a bad Speed sensor that was shorting out. Your cruise should not work too.

The ECU-Ig fuse also runs cooling fans and other things. You will have to see if you can find a wiring diagram and go through to to find the short.

My advice is to take it to a reputable business or dealership.

The ECU-IG fuse is fine now. According to the manual, the things associated with that circuit are: the shift lock, fuel injection system, moonroof, cooling fan, and ABS. Since the fuse stopped blowing everything on that circuit seems to work but my speedometer isn't working and the ABS and Tire pressure lights are on
