Default noisy motor

are all tc motors noisy at idle?i've owned several acura's and civics but never had a motor this noisy.it almost sounds like the valves need adjustment.anyone have the same problem?

besides the clankiness that neothin mentioned.... perhaps you can elaborate a little more as to what "noises" you are hearing?

is it at intial startup? or is it happening even after it's warm?

well i had a supercharged integra and sometimes it had the same ticking except i knew it was the valves.i purchased this 2006 tc brand new and as i was pulling my car into the garage i noticed it had the same ticking from the block i assume. but after giving it some thought it might be because these motors run off timing chains and not rubber belts.

could be the case. no rubber belts for this motor. (for timing)

ticking sounds can also be heard from the vacuum switching value near your intake. hmm... which coincidentially is part of.... the warm idle control system.

Yeah its normal Daniel. My 07 has the same "ticking" type of sounds when it idles, both cold and warm, its just the valve springs ticking at low idle, from what I have been told, makes sense as there is nothing wrong with my motor b/c it would have blown by now by the way I drive

what oil are you using? toyotas are very sensitive with the VVT-I the 4 cyl not as much but some what. i know the 8 cyl will through a VVT-i code if its real cold and have the wrong oil.. sorry off topic but if your using something not recomended by toyota you may experiance issues, i havent seen any with that 2.4 but idn your conditions, those 2.4 are loud neways

tC's aren't quiet at idle it's normal. And yeah, a lot of current cars out there are more quiet.
