Default oh ____e! magnetic drain plug missing magnet

last time i replaced the MT fluid (about 300i0 miles on the odo) there was a magnet in the drain plug.... now about 23,000 miles later the magnet is gone.... i did an MT-90 swap right after buying the car new and thought I should do it again since its cheap and i had some free time this weekend.... needless to say, i was aghast with shock when i saw the drain plug was sans magnet.... then i saw the fluid draining out and it was dark gray to black.... i guess the magnets adhesive broke off and the mag got chewed up by the gears... didn't notice any diff in shifting or driving though.... anyone know if this caused some damage? to prevent this from happening to others, i suggest: that you remove the magnet and place a strong earth magnet on the outside (head) of the drain plug/bolt.... since it is steel it will still collect the metal shavings and the aluminum housing will not transmit the magnetism....
