Default Opinions about the tC's TRD Supercharger

Hi Guys, I'm a new member but have been reading the forums forever. I've been holding off buying my sw tC until i could see exactly what the supercharger would bring to the table....I'm wanting to stay under warranty but want the most bang for my buck. If the supercharger isn't wirth the investment then I probably won't buy the tC (even though I love the car), instead I'll go for an Eclipse GT or a Civic SI. I'm just asking some opinions on rather or not the supercharger is worth the money you put out to get it. Owners of the supercharger please post opinions...Thanks in advance and hopefully I'll be the forum's next sw tC owner!

tC S/C = about 192whp.
si = lsd + about 170whp - tq + 6speed
Eclipse GT = TOO HEAVY

In my opinion, the si will out handle the tC like no other. The tC S/C may be faster in a straight line, but around a track I have my doubts, although it hasnt been tested yet.

I'm going to get the superchcarger because I already have a tC. If I were you, I'd wait until the si was released and people had reviews on it. Heck...I might even decide to make a trade if the insurance wont be any higher.

Even with the S/C, the tC will still be much cheaper than the Si. With the price diffrence, you can upgrade the suspension and get stickier tires. I just feel the LSD and 6-speed is wasted on the Si due to it's lack of torque. The tC, OTOH, is very torquey (word?).

just go to ZPI and ask to test drive the Supercharged tC they recently acquired. they could be more than happy to accomodate you

the supercharger is putting down numbers I really didn't expect and thats a good thing. it is still a bit pricey, but 50 state legal with a warrenty is kind of a give and take. With ZPI making upgrades for the kit it is definitly an option for forced induction systems. If the LSD is gonna sway your decision. Quaife will be releasing thier LSD for the tC around spring of next year. I haven't heard any information on pricing as of yet, but it will probably be around 1,000. After having it installed I'm guessing around 1,500 bucks. Still cheaper than the Si. with more hp, more torque, but still lacking the 6 spd transmission.

The guys at Sport Compact Car had their competition between their project cars and the tC did pretty well and that was well before they upgraded their suspension on the car. BTW they raced teh cars in the rain as it wouldnt stop raining where they are, all they had on the tC were rims and stickier tires. It held its own in the rain (the stock MR beat the **** out of every modded car there).

I think I'm going to go to ZPI and see if they will let me test drive it or atleast gimme a spin in their s/c tC. Seems like the best plan of ation.

____ the Honduh. Torqueless wonder, overratted, and they're like _______s. Everyone will ____ing have one. Esp. now that they dont have double wishbone suspension up front anymore the general suspension layouts between the two cars is pretty similar I think. Someone correct me if I'm wrong here. Not familiar with the rear set ups on both of these cars.

As for the Eclipse, just say no to Mitsubishi. That company is in the hole and who knows how much longer they'll be in the US market. Do you want to be like those ____ed Daewoo owners out there? Also, Mitsu quality just can't compare to Toyota or Honda. Take it from me, I used to own a dsm and know lots of people with dsms and evos and the ____ they they and I've had to deal with just isn't worth it, unless you got a backup vehicle.

with the TRD SC think of if like this:

trick your mind to make 3500rpm your new 1000 rpm. up to 3500 it doesnt do anything. Feels stock. Once you get the hang of keeping the engine in 'boost territory', I have to admit ,after driving on the SC for a 100 miles now it can be fun.

If you rev your engine accordingly you will feel the boost and a big difference over stock. Throttle response is 'thicker' and shifting I find is a bit more stickier too. (no pun intended).

To be honest the supercharger by itself is not a good buy. Yes it will increase HP but for the money it is not the best option. You could spend a lot less on standard bolts on and get similair performance. With some options that we have coming it will make it a much more viable option but with an additional price tag. The guy who goes from stock to S/C will be happy. Going from turbo to S/C you will be sad, for now. We feel that with some parts the S/C will perfrom a lot better but for now it if choked by its own design.

so do you think that the SC will perform better than the turbo you guys offer once parts come out for it? or just better off getting the turbo?

As far as I'm concerned, the Si having 2 overdrive gears is no performance advantage at all. Infact, it's extra weight and exists soley to provide better gas-milage. Big deal
