Performance Chips?

Sorry if this isnt exactlly the right place to post this, but im a little curious to know if and how those performance chips work, and if it would be worth getting one? which one?

my chip gave me 45 hp. but i took it out cause the car was too fast. not sure why everyone doesnt have them.

i chipped my kia, got me up to 200 hp but i snapped an axel.

oh god......

well stevejohns, im kinda new to this whole thing. especially the forum. lol
just got the car a month ago, but i wanna get it to go a little faster. so im trying to figure out what would be the easiest and cheapest way to get a little extra speed? so come this summer, i can jump right on it..

also not really sure how that pm stuff works, but you can do that so peep's dont get mad for getting off topic on here.

people are so crucial. haha

just take it easy dude. werer just kiddin here and giving honest opions. umm if you want more power for cheap id just a cai and some headers. and pm is when you private message somebody for something. so its a one on one

yeah i know. i gotcha. if ya read what i said ^^ up there, this is all new to me.

but i plan on a cai, headers and just a cat-back or something.

alright, OP you get the point.
the chips are basically resistors that fool your ECU.
they only "work" for a little, your ECU will adjust to the changesd enviroment and everything will go back to how it was.
there have been tons of threads on this topic, so if you want more details, use the search feature on the site and read up.
with that being said...
