Default Performance help!

i currently just bought a 2006 scion tc i just put a CAI and the trd exhaust does anyone know if there are any good tc performance chips i found some but they are cheap so in my opinion the do not seem reliable. Money is not an issue if you can give a link or just some help that would be greatly appreciated!!

There are none. Do some searching it's been discussed before along with methods of getting power out of this car.

There is one that will net you some minor, but noticeable gains......The Unichip. Best place to grab it is at TRDsparks.com. It works the best in tandem with other bolt-ons.....Ive got the Injen CAI, DC Headers, NST Pulleys, Nvidia S-pipe, and Descendant Intake Manifold......and then I got the Unichip and had it tuned to specifically to my setup, and tuned to 91 Octane gas because that's all we can get out here in New Mexico....so IMHO it's definitely worth the investment and will net you about 10hp, but only if you have it set up right with other bolt-ons.....my favorite part is the much better throttle response tho.

you do not get more power from tuning, atleast not any worthwhile power. you mainly get sound from CAI and exhaust. real power gains come from turbos, superchargers, and nitrous exhaust. Although turbos are generally the best.

Btw, Im not trying to step on Jon's toes or his statement, he is partly right......even with all my mods, Im not quite to 200hp.....if you want real power (300+), you are gonna have to go forced induction....it's really all about where you are trying to go with your build....if you just want a car that is n/a but significantly more fun to drive, then copy my build, those are the best bolt-on parts available for the TC, but if you want a speed demon and have money, consider a 3sgte engine swap or a at least a turbo set-up

good performance chips.. hmm.. you can't even find any crappy performance chips.. and whatever "chips" that do exist.. wouldn't even make it on the scale since they don't work.. so yea.. like Jon said.. they don't exist.

piggyback systems, standalones... coupled along with any forced induction setup will yield power gains..

if "money is not an issue".. well then.. you just found yourself wasting money on that CAI you just installed... and probably will soon realize that TRD exhaust wasn't worth it either.

go turbo....thats the only thing that will give you real power....yea bolts on help the car breathe but thats about it....a trd is axle back so that wont do anything besides sound,do a full exhaust.....and some pulleys........

Turbo is the only real way to make any decent power from a scion.

Intake manifolds are overkill and WAY too much money for the little HP you'll gain without forced induction.

If I do do pulleys would it mess with my water pump or alternator if I change the weight not the size?

I'm basically asking if it will mess up my charging system and cooling system?

If you do light weight, no because revolutions stay the same. I'm against pulley's because of vibration issues and cost. Depends on what you think is worth it.

I heard if you put TRD stickers on the side of your car, you gain 10 hp.

Oh really?

No, you won't gain more than maybe 20hp with n/a bolt-ons.
The two most cost-effective upgrades to my car were
1)the nut behind the wheel. I took a driving class. It's saved me from a couple accidents (according to my wife). It's also helped me beat significantly faster cars on the track.
2)a quality rear sway bar. When I bought my tC, I bought good tires, and I bought a great swaybar. A good swaybar will make your car handle well without sacrificing that Camry-like ride. ;-)

If you wouldn't mind me asking what you have done to your car and about how much did you spend to do it?!

Almost any time you remove restriction or back pressure, you move the power band higher up the rpm range. A REPUTABLE intake or exhaust will usually be tuned to give more even gains.
