Default performance noob....

alrighty, i'm wanting to add a bit of power to the tC now that the looks have been pretty much covered.

Intake is going to be an Injen, so that's covered.

For the exhaust though, i've got a question or two.
The stock exhaust, where are the cat(s) located? I'd like to eliminate all of the catalytic convertors and just run resonators (screw the enviroment eh?)

I don't mind a loud exhaust, I just don't want rasp in the upper RPM's. The main cause of this on the tC is due to the addition of an aftermarket header. I've read that the MMW header isnt as raspy as others out there (along with it having nice gains on the dyno), is this true? Would an AW header followed by a zpi s-pipe and then a custom mid pipe that has 2 resonators welded into it have any rasp?

what kind of axleback has decent sound to it? i was planning on the TRD, but then i read that it sounds like crap once you open up the piping ahead of it so....

basically i'm thinking either a MMW or AW header, zpi/MMW s-pipe, custom midpipe, and then have no idea for the axleback

as far as the cats... theres one at the manifold.....and one after the s-pipe.
and having any types of headers IMO would cause a raspy sound.

as far as the TRD...you really dont get much performance....I wouldnt get it.. :D

if you want MMW s-pipe, u'll have to get MMW header. the MMW header is an actual 4-2-1 header so the s-pipe is shorter then the other aftermarket ones. if you've got $600 to put into MMW header then go for it. AW and DC cost half as much but dont perform as well as the MMW (mayb a 4-5whp difference).

as for the s-pipe, im planning on getting the draxas s-pipe. its 2.5" mandrel and stainless steel. ZPI isnt stainless steel but it is what many people have. megan is cheap but it isnt 2.5". theres also the CC s-pipe too but i think its the same as ZPI. also i believe ZPI relocated the O2 sensor in an attempt to avoid the CEL problem with aftermarket headers.

Axle backs. Greddy SP2, quiet daily driver and aggressive tone at WOT. Greddy Evo, not sure how it sounds but alot of people have it with little to no complaints. HKS, i hear it has a nice deep tone to it. TRD, it'll be very loud with an aftermarket header. Precision Muffler, trying to compete with the SP2 as a quieter daily driver exhaust but not mandrel bent like the SP2. that's all i can think of right now...

as for the gains on the axle back, you wont get much from just the axle..mayb it goes something like this but im not 100% sure:

TRD puts out the least amount of power. SP2 and EVO are about the same, 1-2whp in favor of EVO. all the axle backs typically yield very similar gains though

i have the AW, injen cai, and greddy sp2. stock midpipe and s-pipe for now. sounds great with little to no rasp.

ive got about 1300 to drop into this so I think I may just pick up the MMW header/spipe. That also comes with an anti-fouler iirc right? Is Monstermotorworks.com the only place to get the MMW header/spipe combo?

The greddy SP2.... where would I go about looking for that online. I don't think ive ever seen it

the MMW should come with the MMW antifouler. i think theres a sale going on right now for the SP2. search sponsored sales. i think its $399 shipped. www.houseofscion.com might be $420 shipped.
