Default Pulling the head...

So has anyone on here actually pulled a head without pulling the motor? Just curious, my engine hoist is acting up and it looks like Im going to have to get a new piston/jack for it as it wont hold pressure, unless I can just yank the head and leave the motor in the car

Oh well, guess well never know, I ended up rigging the hoist and its working for now lol. Added some hydraulic jack fluid to it, I guess it had gotten low, prob a small leak but I cant see it leaking anywhere.

I pulled my head to replace the head gasket without pulling the motor. My suggestion for you......pull the motor. Reason being.....when you go to put your timing cover back on the clearance sucks. I accidently touched the cover to one of the studs and it rubbed off some of the sealant. Needless to say I have a slight oil leak now. Conclusion......fix your hoist and pull the motor.
