Default Question on stock resinator...

I bought a Borla exhaust for my 06 tC, and it's not quite what I wanted... I was told by a friend of mine (who also owns a tC) that although the Borla exhaust replaces the stock muffler, there is a second resinator located about a foot back from the catalytic converter. The question I have, if this information is indeed correct, would be if I were to remove the stock resinator, would I need to replace the resinator to pass emissions or can I still pass with just running a regular piece of straight pipe in it's place? I purchased the axle-back set-up, which is the only product that Borla will stand by as their published product, but I am getting the same sound as the stock muffler. Any help would be awesome, and thanks guys.

Neither the muffler or resonator have any effect on emissions, just sound.

however, if your exhaust gets too loud, you can get in trouble. some states have laws aboutt he decibel levels allowed by a cars exhaust note. removing the resinator could get you regularly pulled over and ticketed for noise pollution and such.
