R2C Performance (prototype) Intake dyno
In the recent months R2C Performance has been working on an intake for the 07+ tC (gen 1). I was the lucky one to get drive around and test out the prototype before it goes into full on production.
Here's what the prototype looks like:

As you can see, it's a simple short ram design, they say they found this least restrictive especially compared to Injen style CAIs. The production one will be a lot more polished and will have a few choices for different finishes on the pipe. The box has a nice big rubber gasket around it as you can see, when the hood closes, it is sealed off from the rest of the engine bay. Heat shield of sorts.
I have switched to this intake from the Raceland CAI and I have to say I'm loving the sound of this one. This one isn't as apparent, but once you hit it, you can hear a nice deep roar with that boxy sound, which I found to sound 'meaner' than the sucking/hissing sound the Raceland CAI made.
Anyway, today we went to the dyno shop to see what type of performance gains this has given us. Of course, it's nothing crazy, but around the standard of what we expected, around 6-7hp at the wheels, and about 7ft/lbs of tourque over the stock intake system with my 09 RS5 (auto).

R2C Performance Intake:

We did a few runs and the results stayed pretty consistent once the ECU adjusted to the new intake. Anyway, I am not affiliated with these guys, they just contacted me through SL seeing if I was interested in helping them test it out with the use of my car, and it involved a new intake and a free dyno, so why not?

It's way high.
I was going to get that intake until the flood ruined my '07 and I replaced with an '06'...
Beware of somebody who says Injen is inferior. Read any intake comparison.
Why was there a huge drop at 4000rpm & why did they only start recording after 3000rpm? You don't know what peak (erroneous) torque is.
That air box is not very well sealed on the bottom. I hope your production piece is better.
I suggested to Ed after reading the temp on the outside of my cat on a 90+ degree day at 520degrees, that he should consider putting the filter outside the engine bay, that the dyno is not going to show that.

The original poster said that...
The gen 1 tC is the 2AZ-FE engine. Therefore it does not include the 2AR-FE engine.

2AZFE is what the tC has, not sure if the AR motor is a similar setup with the intake. Basically, what wlfpck said.
Yes, they made the prototype from my old car. Then we got 6" of rain overnight, the car flooded, was totaled, and I replaced it with an '06 which has a different MAF, ECU... The '07 was an orphan car. I was surprised they wanted to make an intake for it...
Their filter, though, seems really cool. DRY media. NO oil. Top oiled filter works better out of the box once it gets dirty, Oiled doesn't work nearly as well, but their dry filter can just be blown out with air. Also, being that it isn't cotton, like an oiled filter, well just imagine what happens when you wash and dry jeans. They shrink...
I wanted to get one of those filters...I hope they are open-ended!
