Default on the realz...whats the diff between these two things?

Serious question, whats the diff between the HKS exhaust and the universal HKS muffler? (besides the exhaust havin the pipe and maybe havin more gains) Is there a diff in sound or sumthin? If not, I think I would go with the universal muffler and save me 100+...let me know

becarfull because the universal could be alot longer than the one with the pipe on it already. You still need to get it fited and the pipe welded from a muffler shop which could cost up to $100. IMO i would just go with the pipe already on there.

Ya dont cheap out. Buy something that actually fits the car. Making something else fit will quickly fill that $100 gap.

You will have to take it to a muffler shop, they would chop up your pipe and weld the muffler on it. Unless you know the dimensions or maybe have them create custom piping for you, I wouldn't buy just the muffler.

I'm pretty sure the axleback muffler (w/the pipe already on it) has a shorter muffler that fits better than the universal one...

genuine made for the tc

genuine made for anything hence "universal"

maybe its just me but i hate universal fit parts, they NEVER fit right, and thats why i dont use them!
thats the diff :D

difference is about how much money you'll spend trying to get a good muffler shop to weld in that muffler..

vice just spending the money to install something already made to fit the car.

universal NA is shorter, thinner, and smaller piping/tip than the turbo. in my opinion the turbo model looks nice (because its bigger), but sounds louder and raspier because of the larger piping.
the tC is shorter so it fits better (both universals are longer, requiring aggresive angling). it has the larger turbo canister & tip diameter (120mm vs 96mm), but the NA's smaller piping diameter (60mm vs 75mm). so it fits better, looks better, and sounds better.

I was wondering about the same thing. What did you decide to do, babyfac3?

I'm thinking of getting my HKS muffler and then have the shop make it fit. Isn't it more expensive to get the HKS exhaust than getting the HKS muffler and custom catback?

And would it work if I get the one up to 2006 model if I decide to change my mind and get the HKS exhaust? I have a 2007. *CLUELESS*

the muffler shop around here would charge me around 90 ish to customize.
