Glad everything worked out for you...and a few valuable lessons learned. Quick change places are a disaster waiting to happen with things like over-tightening drain plugs or oil filters or not tightening them enough. I've heard enough horror stories over the years that I always do my own maintenance, including oil changes.

I'm also a little wary of Discount Tire and usually take my wheels to them so I can mount my wheels and tires myself.

I've always wondered how some of the 'rent-a-stall' places were and it sounds like, should a lift be required for a job, it's a decent route to go.

Just wondering if you had to remove any part of the exhaust down pipe leading up to the cat to remove the oil pan?

I have an 05 tC due for an oil pan gasket replacement.

According to the "engine mechanical" pdf:

1) Disconnect the negative battery terminal. Wait 90 seconds so the airbag doesn't deploy.

2) Remove the front exhaust pipe section. (The front section is between the first catalytic converter and the center pipe section.)

3) Disconnect the front and right motor mounts. (To do this you'll need a floor jack and a block of wood to support the motor underneath the oil pan.)

4) "Hang" the motor using two motor hangers and a chain block and sling device.

5) Remove the floor jack and wood block from underneath the oil pan.

6) Remove the oil pan bolts/ nuts.

Reassembly is the same steps in reverse order.
