Well I went with a 22" Magnaflow resonator and a 18" Mangnaflow resonator. So a total of 40" of resonator. That was the most I could fit on the midpipe. Hoping this will silence the rasp.

you just bought it or its installed already?

two of the 18 would be almost the same.

Just bought them. I know 2 18" would have been 36" of resonator. Just being a little precautious with the extra 4".

could you make 4 videos for us?

1) dont put the camera too close to the exhaust.. put it like.. 10 feet away

2) 2 video when the engine/exhaust is cold and 2 when the engine/exhaust is heated up

what i mean.. start you engine before u get the resonators installed.. do the video.. drive around for like.. 15 minutes. and make another video1

get the resonators installed.. go home.. next day make a video when you start your engine.. drive around and make another video..

THEN wait 3 months and make another video.. after that another 6 months and make another video :D

so we can see that they really worn out or not.

Ill try that out.

Are you looking to see if the Magnaflow resonators degrade over time?

yes.. i have magnaflow resonator and i think it worn out after a year... i got rasp a lot.. and even the exhaust sounds different.

when the system was new it had a weird noise.. like a back breathing noise. i know it sounds stupid but i cant explain.. but i dont have that noise anymore and i got more raso. So i think the resonators are degrade/ worn out after a while

i kept stock resonator and remove the cat with a 2nd resonator by Thrush at advance autos for 31 bucks. its about 2.25" inlet and 25" length with no rasp at all. pretty cheap and definitely gets the job done!

I will be purchasing a Strup header soon and was wondering, since I just have a Magnaflow catback, would a 22" resonator be enough? Also, where on the exhaust would this go? Does it replace the midpipe?

it does not replace the midpipe but it has to be welded on it.

22 is gonna be good. but you will never get rid off the rasp completely.
BUt it will be much better than nothing

One more question: since I will have this welded on the stock midpipe, would I need the 2 1/4" outlet, or can I go with the 2 1/2" outlet?

i have a 2.25 (1/4) outlet and inlet on the thrush resonator and it is installed right next to my stock resonator, it should fit. the muffler shop guys will make it fit with the welding. if you go bigger on the outlet then they should add some custom pipping but it wouldnt look "clean". regardless they'll make it fit for its price.

nothing will eliminate rasp... it will reduce.

if you dont want rasp install your oem header back.. or get resonators and cat.

You want to use 2 resonators that equal the length of 30" - I have a 14" and a 16" - the 14" came stock on my exhaust and I added another one that I bought at the muffler shop. I would tell anybody to just go to a muffler shop and buy one there for $40 then have them put it on. Dont worry about the jazzy ones - bring it to a muffler shop that has been around for 20years and that the guys have been there since born ...ha. they will have the car done in 1/2hr

why 30?
what is the problem with two 16 or 18?

btw 16=14
and 14=12 because 1-1 inch at the two end is just the pipe....
