yea i know i had the redline gear oil also for about 3,000k miles it was good at first but then it got really bad..wouldnt go into gear right.. grinding and etc.....theres a whole thread on this in the tech area about redline and people experience with it...im using eneos gear oil its like night and day from redline to eneos....and yea most then likely its the gear oil......the only way to actual tell if you change to eneos or amsoil

How many miles do u have and what year is your tc

actually my06tc is probably correct. in a hurry i replaced the tranny fluid with the wrong stuff on
my 90 300zx. wouldn't go into gear to save my life until it was up to temp couldn't figure it out to save my life.

was almost about to tear my tranny apart. and than glanced over and read the label on the fluid again.

forehead smacking time. anyways i believe he is correct about changing the tranny fluid. and really it
wouldn't hurt to change it out and see if it isnt something really bad like a throw out bearing going out.

umm I doubt its the mt-90, if you used MTL maybe but, I have had MT-90 in my car since I got it with no problems at all, and I drag race the car very often, and drive it hard.

When you say it is hard to shift do you mean it acts like the synchros want to lock you out, or it just grinds then pops in?

does it do that if you blip the gas? blipping is when you pop the tach up to match the speed the next gear would normally be on the tach.

usually if the syncros are going out your tranny will shift this way.

say your in 3rd and you would like to shift into second. your rpm levels in 2nd are way higher. than before down shift you would tap the gas bringing the tach up to the rpm required to have the tranny slip into second.

works when up shifting too, good way to see if it is a synchro.

that's a possibility but wouldn't that mean his clutch is failing or really needs replacement?

but that does sound like a real answer.
