i highly recommend the TWM shifter. it sits just PERFECT and even though everyone says it's too low.. it really isn't. The throws are much better then stock.. and combined with the OEM Subaru Impreza WRX leather shift ****, it's perfection.

 

I guess depending on how far back you sit + your arm length, everyone's experience with the shifter's height is different. Stock height is perfect for me.

 

the reason I like the perrin, is that it can lower the through by up to 200%, there is just an odd looking bind in the pics that you can see online, that's why I want to see what it looks like in the tc.

 

does any one run their am shifter with a weighted ****... im picking up my tc in a few weeks and the first thing im doing (in the dealership parking lot no less) is the twm shifter...

i was thinking about a weighted ****, but im not sure as they are kinda pricy.

ps im doin the shifter in the dealership parking lot cause i have a buddt that works in the grage there that is helping me out on his lunch break...

 

I just picked up my tC on Saturday, and I haven't yet had the perrin installed... I'm a little nervous about doing it myself, but I haven't really looked for someone to do it for me yet. I'll try to put up pics when I get it done, but I only have a weak camera phone.

 

twm has instructions on how to do it on their websote. granted its for theirs... but the shifters look relitavly similar.

basically its like this:
remove center console.
remove shifter.
install new shifter.
put center console back

the twm site has pictures and fairly detailed descriptions. its a pdf format so thats a bit of a pain, but they are nice...

 

So what is a weighted **** supposed to do? I would think that you'd want it to be as light as possible for faster shifts.

 

Higher weight at the tip of the shifter will allow it to overcome forces keeping it out of gear. A little harder to "get moving" but it's pretty neat. I'm happy with my obx ****, but these are neat..

none of it's necessary. . . it's just a matter of what you want. i personaly want the smoothest, easiest shift i can get. i'll be getting either the TWM or the Perrin next week.
