SMOG LEGAL ?
hey there peeps... jus' wonderin' what california smog legal bolt-ons are out there for the tC?! i have an injen CAI... is that smog legal?im really interested in getting cams, cam gears, headers, cat back exhaust, and port and polished heads...are those smog legal?!
Pretty much everything you mentioned besides the cat back exhaust are NOT legal in california. In order for them to be legal the parts have to be CARB certified which means a lot of time and money for the aftermarket part manufacture. Your Injen intake is not CARB legal so just be careful around police and don't do anything stupid to give them a reason to pop your hood and you should be fine. That said, modify your car as much as you want, just dont give a cop a reason to look under your hood and you should be fine.
Keep in mind that four years from when you bought your car you will have to smog it. Even if it passes the emissions test you will FAIL the visual inspection with all of your non-CARB legal parts. So really it is up to you whether or not to modify. Also, you should be ok with the port and polished head (not heads, we only have one) because if anything, it will make your car run cleaner and more efficient while remaining invisable to any smog inspector!
Happy modding!!

Actually you could probably get a few of you "Wants" that are smog legal in Calif. A couple of ways to find out.
Go to this link and look up the aftermarket part:
http://www.arb.ca.gov/msprog/aftermk...es/amquery.php
Go to this site and contact the Air Resources with questions about modifications that are legal:
http://www.arb.ca.gov/html/contact.htm
You can also contact the manufacturer of the part in question and ask if it's CARB approved/certified
