The dealer sells Denso SK20R11 plugs and will tell you that's what the factory installs. THIS IS NOT TRUE. The factory also uses NGK plugs, IFR6T11 or NGK part no 4589. I had put in the toyota part into his car and the car ran rougher and didn't accelerate as well. Found the NGK IFR6T11 at PartsAmerica.com (they run a lot of other autopart stores) for $8 a piece. Now his car is smooth, accelerates very well, all is fixed!
The plugs for the tC's engine are Iridium, nothing else is better than this for this engine. Don't use platinum, as it doesn't work as well.
My advice : Get the NGK IFR6T11, part no 4589. You won't be sorry getting the NGK.
edit: there will be people who promise Denso is better, but I've seen it and I'm not impressed. NGK ftw, period.
just to let you know that ngk plug has a more narrow electrode than the stock plug (IFR6T11). (0.6mm vs 0.7mm) they'll hype the narrow as being more "accurate" but the larger OEM Laser NGK plug will last longer because it has more material.
Go for it, try the narrow one and see if the idle smoothness changes. If it does I'd go back to the OEM Laser IFR6T11 NGK plug. But hey can't hurt to try. Let us know how it goes.

Just wanted to post my experience so far...
At ~52k miles, I installed some NGK platinum plugs (which was about a week ago). The start, idle and general shakiness of the car while driving (~70-90 mph) was noticeable. With my old plugs, I had never experienced this. My car is N/A with an Injen CAI, 5W30 Castrol Full Synthetic Motor Oil with K&N oil filter, and I only run premium gasoline from Chevron (I noticed that I can get ~350 miles on a tank of premium compared to only 310 on a tank of regular).
I read through the threads and I've gone back to the parts store and Purchased the NGK Laser Iridium IFR6t11 (part no. 4589). They were pricey at $7.99 per plug (comes in a pack of 4) - costs about $35 after taxes here in the Bay Area. There were many other choices I could have purchased that were much cheaper per plug. The only reason why I went with these was because of experiences listed here in the forums.
Once my engine block cools down enough, I'll break her open and plug 'em - I'll let you know how it turns out.
On a sidenote - anyone want to buy the NGK platinum spark plugs from me? Only used for a week
$5!!
EDIT:
I've been running my car with the NGK Laser Iridium IFR6T11 (part no. 4589). My car has been running great. No more shaking at start, idle, or at higher speeds. The platium plugs i had in there before were the NGK BKR6EGP. The next time I replace my plugs, I'll definitely go with the OEM NGK Laser Iridium IFR6T11 (part no. 4589).
