squeeking noise comming from front driver side wheel area?
since about a week ago i started hearing this strange squeeking noise when i step on the gas comming from somewhere on left side of the engine bay. the best i can describe it as would be a loud bird chirp the doenst end. the only thing is it only comes on when im like 1/8 of the way on the gas then it dies down till i cant hear it. . its also been wet around hear for a couple days but everythings pretty dry by now and i still hear it. Any Ideas On What It Is?
Try pressing down just below your center vents and above the aradio cover. That's where mines is coming from, it annoys the hell of out me, when I have time I plan on opening it up and see what the hell is going on back there.
that squeaking noise is the air intake. everyone's does that. it should happen when the pedal is depressed a certain amount, and at a certain rpm.
if you have a Cold air intake, that noise gets 5 times as bad.

This topic has been discussed 1000X already. The intake manifold on your engine is molded plastic. When the throttle body butterfly is open a certain amount it makes a high pitched wistling noise in the manifold. Some say Scion deigned it ths way on purpose, but i highly doubt it. You dont really notice it that much without a CAI but once one is installed, you really notice it. The CAI alone is not responsible, mearly adds to the amplitude of the noise. The reason you can't hear it as much with the SR intake is because the intake itself is so loud you just can't hear the whistle!
