Starter "Squeal"
As my engine starts, the starter squeals at the end of its job. My mechanic told me that, if it was his, he would remove it and spray some lubricant on (?) because it sounds like it is "dry". This as opposed to replacement. This is a 2005 Scion tC with nearly 130k miles. Any thoughts?
Thanks.
Thanks.
The lubricant is going to be a bandaid. It will help it momentarily until it goes back to the way it was after the lubricant dries up. You're starter is bad technicially. The clutch is gunked up and the gear is corroded. Either replace the gear in it and clean it all up, or just buy a new or remanufactured one like normal people. Rebuilding a starter is ridiculous in my opinion compared to how cheap they are.
