Stick with MT-90 or try Mobil 1 gear oil?
Not too sure, but my family and others i know have ran it in their toyota's old and new, it shifts great, it has great cold weather performance and all around as well. If you live in a super hot state i probally won't recommend it too you, but it does a great job of making the gearbox much smoother right away, and holds itself well throughout till a new trans flush. We have a 95 corolla with over 250k+, have been running that stuff in their since 120k, and the trans shifts amazing no one believes it. I am running it in my 05 tc, i had the toyota crap in their, till i flush it out with this stuff after i bought the car, and its been doing great. I trust it and so does everyone else i know. IMO
FYI: i don't know y others haven't tried it, it cost cheaper then most synthetic trans fluids, and does as good of a job if not better, without the complaints like redline, ext...

Pennzoil synchromesh is really good stuff (used it in my integra) but its quite thin and Ive searched every where to confirm if its GL-4 compatible with no luck. Ill be installing the new batch of Redline tomorrow and give you guys an update on how the mt-90/mtl mix works.

Just wanted to update everyone with the mt-90/MTL mix. So far, so good and it's doing much better in the cold compared to the mt-90 only.
Second gear has always been a pain in cold weather for the first 4-5 miles of driving. It's been really cold the past few days and the tranny starts shifting like butter after maybe half a mile. I can mos def feel a difference over the straight mt-90.

I agree with Carlanga, out of all the fluids ive run in different toyota transaxles (including our cars) hands down AMSOIL 75W90 GL4 transaxle oil takes the cake. It meets or exceeds what the Owners Manual calls for and I did infact call AMSoil b4 I switched my tC over to it as well, and you want to get the manual transaxle oil 75w90 GL4 (NOT the synchromesh gear lube!). Dont use mobil one as some of the additives keep it from being GL4 compliant. Redline just seems to hate toyotas double cone synchros over time, idk why. Simple answer, get AMSOIL and youll be set.

is this what you guys are talking about?
I've been running mt-90 since 0mile on my brand new tranny and when I first changed oil (mt-90 again) at 1100miles old oil was all gray and nasty but thought it's cuz the tranny was new and all small metal flakes came out. I'm planning to change it to either amsoil or eneos soon but I'm not sure what exact amsoil oil I need.
