That is a wicked fast car. Under $20k or was it Euro/Pounds?

Anyhow, seems like the best bang for your $ and it's streetable.

it doesn't look like a deathtrap to me, the whole thing is a freakin cage. Probablly safer than a Scion.

and it's a simple supercharged 300hp.

I'd buy one
Ill have to check the video again, but I think it was in US dollars. Its definatly the best bang for the buck, considering it costs 300,000+ less than the carrera GT which is beat, and about 600,000+ cheaper than the enzo which is came in second to. If money was no object, i would still probably take the atom. I think that the only reason it lost to the enzo was the acceleration on the straights, the atom dominated when it came to cornering.

300HP second fastest motor... am I reading something wrong or are you on crack ? And a civic motor will NEVER be the second fastest motor... I dont care what you do to it!!!!

Did I say MOTOR??
Oh sorry... CAR.... god.......

aight lets make more blanket statements. if you refer back to my post i did correctly state that wastegates reroute excess exhaust gasses...just like you felt the need to repeat. i did not imply that it was used to control backpressure but that there isnt some wall the exhaust gasses are up against.
The "big wall" as you call it is actually the turbine itself. Keep in mind the wastegate isn't even open until the desired boost has already been reached (or rather it opens slighly before, but you get the idea.) If you think that throwing a turbine in the path of exaust gasses is a free ride, you should think again. It's a very effecent way to power an air pump, but its not free.

I'm not saying that turbo's are bad, and I'm not saying they are not the most efficient way to add power to a motor. All I am saying is that they are not the hands-down, be-all and end-all of forced induction solutions. You shouldn't discount the highly efficient centrifical supercharger. Decision between the SC or turbo is really going to depend for most people on a number of factors. Power goal for the car, drivability, quality of the various kits available, etc. etc.

if you are limited to run a bar of boost on your motor setup and you have to choose, why would you pick the one thats gunna give you 10% less power?
Because peak power is not the only way to measure the output of a motor. If you had two FI setups and one would give you 280hp peak at redline and the other only gave you 250hp peak but had a significanly broader powerband, which would you choose now?

Well, your post kind of made me curious to whether or not the atom would be considered a car or not. I looked up "car" in dictionary.com, and it said that it was an automobile. So i looked up "automobile", to find the defenition of one to be A self-propelled passenger vehicle that usually has four wheels and an internal-combustion engine, used for land transport. Also called motorcar.. Therefore by defenition, the ariel atom is considered to be a car. Especially since it is street legal, i dont understand why it wouldnt be considered one. Just some food for thought.
