learn to drive and learn to read you owner's manual.

selecting a lower gear on an automatic transmission keeps the transmission from upshifting beyond your selected gear.

I never driven an auto with "3" and "D", I know when to use "L" and "2". Since the "3" and "D" are adjacent to one another I assume they are the same.

My instructor never told me, but it makes sense now. Since L allows you only to stay in gear 1, and 2 for gear 1,2. I assume 3 allows you to only stay in gear 1,2,3. . Thanks, I got my license when I was 16, but just started driving two months ago.

just do yourself a huge favor then, and save yourself tons of embarrisment, and go read your owners manual.

so many kids just post up dumb questions that the manual answers for them very clearly.

everybody should be forced to read their owners manual.

even my mom who has been driving since well before most of us were born, sat down every night for a week and read the owner's manual to her new subaru when she got it.

you don't have to read it cover to cover, but enough to get a good general understanding of your car.

WOW instead of typing all of that, you could have been helpful and told him the difference.
