Throttle Body
I don't know if a machine shop can make one or not. I am sure if the price is right they can. I'll just wait. I am going overseas soon and I will be there for a few months. So hopefully there will be a lot of aftermarket parts available when I get back. When I get back I want to get a cold air intake, tb, header, full exhaust or an axle back and definate trd suspension. I emailled a company that has a bored tb now to ask them if they are planning on making an actual big bore tb. They said it was in the works.
We at www.sciontcperformance.com, want to share with you some of our experience with the TB for the tC.
Reviewing the messages posted before, we agree with most of them in regards to the boring of a "regular" throttle body, that is, those ones that are manual and use valves.
The Scion tC has a drive-by-wire system that uses electromagnetic signals for the Throttle position and a motorized system as actuator. This particular "modern" TB is very delicate to work with and any mistakes will give you a long time trying to put everything back in the right place in order to eliminate the DTCs about TPS and WOT.
The tC has a plastic intake manifold that will not allow more than 60 mm, so it is the maximum you can go.
Going from 55 to 60 is an actual improvement that combined with other upgrades will make a faster car. For all of you that plan on supercharging, turbo charging or going Nitrous, it will make a huge difference.
As far as uninstalling/installing goes, it’s as easy as: 1 electrical connector, 4 bolts and 4 hoses.
