A tikking noise.
i have this noise coming from under my car sounds like its something to do with the exhaust. idk loud tikking. i thought it was an exhaust leak but i didnt find anything. not sure what it is and why its doing it. i run header back exhaust with the factory midpipe and with tanabe concept g. then i went and checked my g/fs car. i have a manual and she has an auto. doubt that really makes a dif but she has factory header and s pipe with a megan catback. and i run what i have. i had her crank up her car to compare it to mine and i noticed that i could hear her valve chatter but barely at all. and compared to my car the valve chatter is really loud. loud enough to where if im driving down the road and to objects such as cars or barriers or something on on the side of me with the window rolled down i can hear the valve chatter even over the exhaust. not sure exactly why mine is so dif from hers. could it be cause of my header or what. pls help. kinda worried.
I listened to an auto tC(stock engine) with 45,000 miles which has only seen OEM oil and filters. My car(stock engine) has 6,000 miles with 2,500 miles of Mobil 1 synthetic. I noticed more valve train noise along with an intermittent ticking from my car than the 45k tC .
There are some threads about aftermarket intakes causing this ticking noise which is normal. Our valve train specifically is not quiet by any means but if you're that worried, drop it by a local mechanic or dealer.

Other than an exhaust leak making noise
toyotas from the dawn of time have had a valve train ticking.......gets worse in summer and again in deep cold of winter........header can make it sound worse.......my buddy with header has the same loud ticking as mine but his does seem louder too on hot days.

yea i took it to a local scion dealer and had a tech look at it. he said its an exhaust leak from the header to the engine. i reused the gasket from the factory intake and he said i should get a new one and reset the header to make sure i get a good seal.
