Default Tourq dampnet or poly engine mounts?

Situation is, I installed full weapon r/mmw header, new magnalfow high flow cat and magnaflow resonator and magnaflow exhaust. Somtimes when i reverse an tap the gas the cat hits a little onderneth from the trq of the engine, also when i downshift.

I don't want to re-do my exhaust after the time it took( I learned to weld an did it all myself) Soo..

My questions is, which would be better, poly engine mounts $200 shipped or I can make a Trq dampener for ruffly $100 with making/welding nice heavy duty brackets that wont bend. Which would be better?

well...the motor mounts price isn't a problem, it is just the installation of the rear motor mount is really hard to do. while the torque damper is a breeze to install.

but as for me, i would fix the exhaust instead of trying to bandaid up one mistake by just throwing more parts at it. torque dampers and motor mounts are performance upgrades in my opinion, not ways of covering up mistakes on bad installations.

Ah! I understand what your saying. I wouldn't say its a bad installation rather than tight. If that makes sense. I have about an inch above the cat, to me thats a lot of play/room. Its only hitting when, I'm say in a low gear at high rpms and just let go of the gas, so it is a trq.ing issue.

As for the exhaust, I'm not sure if I have much of a choose to re-do anything. Id did do this before I added a flex pipe. I only did that because i was afraid of the weld breaking over hard driving or time, because it was one solid pipe bolted up.

Il try and see if there is someway i can re-do the exhaust, but In my head i don't think there is, short of buying a lot of new parts.

Drax.. I see you have the weapon r header as well with a trd axle back. Are you using the stock mid pipe/cat?

Try poly engine hangers. They can be purchased at kartboy and they should help. They are only ~$25.

I Think this weekend I will for the 4th time take it off and See if I can add a section of pipe before the cat to space it out from the top. Dont think I will have much room.

Would anyone still suggest trq dampener or poly mounts with the fact I am doing after market exhaust and it will give more power, or Not waste the time or money cause it wont make that much of a dif with marginal power.

nah, motor mounts are an awesome upgrade, but they the rear one is a pain to do because you have to drop the transmission to get to it.

and i will admit, that is pretty cool being able to make your own exhaust. but is there a reason your using a flex pipe instead of a donut gasket?

I may look into the mounts, but now I think i will look into getting the exhaust right first.

I am learning making the whole exhaust, I should have not chose to do it on my daily driver, considering my beater (94 celica) took a dump with a bent a valve.

I have the flex/donut gasket from the header to s-pipe as that was mmw. I then have a flange I welded to a small section of pipe to a Magnaflow high flow cat that has a 30 degree angle. From that, It was still a bit stiff/tight of an install, so I welded in the flex pipe after the cat and before the resonator. I welded the resonator Inline the midpipe from the magnaflow cat back.

due to noise and simplicty of install I would tell people to get ingalls engine dampener of the mounts. You can have it installed and ready to go within 1/2 hour. I would just say that it is good to put a few layers of dynomat under it and your golden.

have you seen the pics of the torqued dampers?... Pretty much the mounting plate buckled due to the engine torquing...

I'd go w/ the mounts!

Depends on the setup. The inital weapon-r ones had issues and some of the others were spotty but the ingalls one is pretty darn good. 2 years with mine and zero issues
