Default Transmission modding?

Has anyone successfully replaced an automatic scion automatic into a manual transmission without any quirks? My bro who is going to college is letting me use his tC while hes gone but its automatic, its got alot of nice interior mods but I'm moving into performance and now I was wondering if its worth replacing the transmission only or getting a newer 07?

Also is it possible to mod into a tiptronic or sportronic transmission instead? Has there been any scion mods for that?

why anyone would ever do tip tronic is beyond me... and yes there have been ppl who did the auto to manual conversions. jsut gotta find a spare manual tranny ina junkyard or soemthing and pay for it and the install.

I did. It works just like a stock MT besides the stage 2 clutch. I don’t think its worth it, you would probably be spending and upwards of 4k to do this swap. The only reason did it was because I got all my parts free.

the tip/sprot tronic would be possible but could run upwards in to the price of almost another tC. You would need a new tranny and probably a stand lone for that + the labor you probably would be close to 10k. As far as a m/t-a/t it could be done for about 1500-2500 depending giver or take on labor and such.

You actually dont need the MT ECU. I’m using my AT EUC right now. You can use it but you will get a CEL for none existing AT parts. The gauges don’t need to be changed either. The Gauge will work just not the AT part of it.

I would say that the transmission is the only thing holding the scion tc back. It doesn't shift fast enough add a LSD to that and you are ready to take on any car.

true, tc is great but we need a 6 speed tranny (im a lot into highways)... it sucks when im doing 80-90mphs and the car is going over 4k rpms... hate it, maybe a 6th speed would make it run better

i've heard from sources that zpi racing is in developing processes of a 6spd tranny w/ lsd for the tc, does anyone know if this is true?

That rumor has been floating around for a very long time, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

it'll be cheaper and better in the long run to just trade in the car than to try and spend all the money and time and effort in a conversion.
