Default Transmission stuck in parking...

I tried to drive my 05 Tc for a ride this morning and opps... I couldn't move a **** from P. Parking brake was on before. I don't know if it matters but few hours prior to that I was changing my tail lights. SEL isn't on - no messages what so ever. Anyone has any ideas? Does it have anything to do with fuses? TIA

Are you pushing the little button on the shifter to move it?

Does the auto tC have one of those? I haven't driven an auto one... just guessing.

Are you parked on a steep incline? That can put an auto transmission in a bind and now allow it to move from park.

That is for when the battery is dead. I guess it couldn't hurt.

Add on - brake lights don't come on when I'm pushing down the pedal. I guess this is the reason of transmission blocking itself?

could be, if the car doesnt know that the brakes are on, it wont release the shift lock. check your fuses and your wiring of the brakes lights. make sure the connections are sound as well as grounds.

Yup. It probably doesn't know that you have the brake pressed and won't allow you to shift out.

Or you tail lights are broken or not installed correctly.

When you blow the fuse. You can't engage the shifter. You can 'override' the lock by opening little tab
by the shifter. (Although I would not advise it because you will have no rear brake lights!) This is also
in your Manual. Glad you fixed it. Next time, do what I do; working on anything electrical, pull out the
fuse(s). Makes life A LOT easier.

unplugging battery is always a great idea in a 12v system if you are pluggin in or taking off anything.......DC currant likes to short out very easy.
