Default TRD CAI on scion web site

TRD Cold Air Intake (no photo on site)

$440.00 (price excludes tax and installation)

Improve your flow with TRD's Cold Air Intake for the tC. Featuring 53.5 mm diameter (2.5 inch) mandrel bent aluminum tubing with a unique polished black chrome look finish. The TRD Cold Air Intake is tuned to increase horsepower and torque. It comes with a reusable high-flow, low restriction air filter and a by-pass valve prevents water induction.

Its on the site, but who will pay $440 +tax & installation? MY K&N was $200 shipped, granted its not good for CA, and there is no by-pass valve. But will people pay somewhere around $540 for an intake installed at the dealer. Unless it will give off some real HP.

I could see $300, but $450....., then again I did pay 525 for the TRD muffler.

Overpriced.... and Injen posts better HP numbers, so that's where I'd suggest people go.... I can't believe they priced it that high compared to all the A/M options out there at less than half.

For that price, Virgins from Atlantis riding on Unicorns should have made it.

How do you know Injen will have more HP? No numbers yet...

But my opinion it is expensive and it probably won't have much HP... Do we even know if it's carb? If it is then it really won't yeild hp! Just my thoughts

I took care of it for you.... but thanks....

In regards to Injen vs TRD - Just an observation but usually carb = HP turns out to be not mathamatically possible.

yes, it is overpriced, but it is the only option for CA tc owners... 50 states legal...

Funny how it lands on my b-day??? To bad TRD missed the boat on CAI fest. One would think that you would want to market your N/A product before you release your FI. You know to make us pay for a $440+ product that will be usless for your TRD Supercharger. Oh well, people can put this to rest (except the dyno #'s).

WoW...its sux to be you...how in the world did u ever pay $525 for the TRD muffler???...did you order it with the tC???...i got mines from the dealership...it was $365 + tax and intsall $395....i could have just installed it myself n save $18...but me lazy.....but $525...wayy too much....oaky now tha thats done....my guess is that the TRD CAI might cost that much IF you order it with you tC when buying...i bet it will be much cheaper if you order it by itself...just like my TRD muffler....its a big difference between $525 and $365.....it might be the same with the TRD CAI.....also even if it is CARB legal....jus think about about it...our stock intake is sooo freaking restrictive that getting rid of it could improve HP and TQ in a drastic way....so the TRD may not be that bad...it does hav 2.5 " diameter ....n i love how they moved the placement of that sensor..i think its the A/M or A/F sensor.....it measures air flow and air mass or fuel or sumthing like tha.....now only if KnN and Weapon R could do the same and move tha sensor back...then will their SRI will get better gains and not jus dump fule in the engine...anyway...me like the TRD CAI...it looks nice and we get a by-pass valve....sweet.....but then again...its just my 2 cents.

I thought most of TRD performance parts say "for off road only".

I am sure happy I know people at the dealers to get a deal. Sure is pricie though!

So, in essence, would that make the Unicorns Sea-Horses?
If you read the fine print it states, "In California this part may legally be used on a racing vehicle which will NEVER be operated on public roads" It doesn't even specify if the TRD CAI is legal in Cali. $440 for a CAI that MAYBE isn't even legal in Cali? Forgetaboutit! If one is so encouraged to purchase one of these when they become available, I'm sure trdsparks.com would sell these at a decent price.

From looking at pics of the engine bay with a supercharger, it looks like this might have a chance of fitting if you wanted to use it with the s/c.
