Default TRD Exhaust (new to scion)

I am going to order my scion sometime in june and was wondering if I should get the TRD exhaust that is optional for $525 extra dollars or go with another aftermarket brand....If so could someone supply a sound clip of the trd exhaust package or give me some feedback, I checked the announcment threads and such, but the sound clips were not working.
Thanks for the help!

for sound clips, not sure why they aren't working

go with aftermarket, for $525 you can actually get an exhaust that gives you power

Don't do it.. It gives you 1-2hp tops, and it will sound terrible with any type of aftermarket header.

You can get a full catback system for less then this crappy axle back.

Thanks,
would you recommend any of the optional upgrades that you can get when you order a scion?

Just search on trdsparks.com for parts.. They have the same exact options available but the price is alot lower.

just go with the megan drift spec exhaust, its 200 dollars cheaper and you get alot more power and now no bumper burning.

That's kind of a loaded question, really. While you can get most (if not all) of the options/upgrades cheaper elsewhere, it depends on your cash situation. I had several dealer options installed so that I could have them added to my financing as I knew I wasn't going to have the cash to buy them outright. The one option I added to the financing that I definitely should not have was the interior LED's in the footwells. I didn't do my homework and found that cold cathodes work better and only cost about $30 to do the entire car - I think that was like $249 through the dealer OUCH! Other than that, I'm happy with the stuff I got from the dealer (foglights, spoiler, TRD exhaust and a couple others.)

$525 for the TRD? Is that without the ridiculous installation price?

Go with the DC or Injen. You'll at least get some power from those and have like $100-150 leftover.

If you don't want to spend as much you could go with the Megan or HKS exhausts. They both around $350 and have that "JDM" angled tip.

Don't buy stuff from the dealer though, It's BS.

really.. if you get an axle back.. i doubt they are any better than TRD axle back. TRD exhaust I think is a perfect choice if you are not going all out (header, s pipe, etc.). I went with TRD because I have no desire putting a header, s pipe, 2 resonators. TRD sounds awesome without a header. Yes it probably only gives 1-2 HP, but what do you expect? It is an axle back.

The good thing about buying it from the dealer, you can put it toward the load. However, 525 seems too high and its not worthed considering how easy it is to install it. Just buy it used or buy new online and install it your self. I bought mine used for $200 and you can install it your self in under an hour.

I think I paid around $250 for mine through the dealer, but that was uninstalled. It was on backorder and I live 2 hours from the closest Scion dealer. They had it dropped shipped to me instead of making me drive back to the dealership to get it installed.

Installing it was a breeze like shwettynuts said....less than an hour.

ok.. since your going with a header.... "DO NOT" waste your money on a TRD axle back.. it will sounds like crap..... almost any axle back you buy will sound crappy with a header.... you have to spend some money to make them sound decent...

this may sound like a dumb question, but new headers does increase HP right?
(new to the tuner world)

i too am realizing that purchasing accessories from dealer is a waste of money. but when i compare the cheaper prices on web sites, it almost evens out. i mean oem gogs are 350 or so i believe. so i think of it as $75 installation fee if the port installs it. i think 300 something for the spoiler also. i got mine for 423 soooo.. i guess it's not too bad on these particular items b/c i don't really know how to install these items. i'm sure there are directions, but i rather not on a brand new car.

the leds are definetly the most waste of money thing ever!!! i got them, they look alright, but i realize now that i can do without for 250.

emx rims look nice, but now i'm eyeing those black rims with chrome lip. they look so nice on g35! probably should of got after markets instead of oem rims since aftermarket stand out more.
