Default vacuum line question for experienced tC mechanics

on the bottom right side of the throttle body there is a vacuum line that comes off and curves underneath the intake and it looks like it connects to a check valve. Anyone know exactly what this is for. While I was inspecting the tb today I noticed it was disconnected. I was actually looking to bypass the coolant lines that went to the tb, but luckily stumbled into this problem. I had the dealer inspect my valve cover for oil leaking and I am not sure if this happened then or not. The question I have is it possible this could have effected my dyno or fuel milage?

I'm not looking at it now but i'm sure it's purpose is for a purge solenoid or some other emissions function. I'm surprised you didn't get a CEL.

Oh yea, Do Not bypass the coolant line that runs into the TB. The TB uses engine temp for proper engine function.

I thought that at first but its not hooked up to the evap valve so it has to be something else. The gas cap is part of the evap system and wil throw a cel if left loose so the vacuum line would be for something diffrent.

I did the Coolant Bypass here in PR. No change, but no malfunction either. Been like that over 3 months.

I didn't do the bypass yet but it wasn't one of those lines. It was the lower right vacuum line

Hey sorry to resurrect an old thread, but I've been searching all over the web for the last 2 days trying to find an answer to this. I drive an 04 Solara 2.4 with the same motor, and I discovered the same random uncapped vacuum hose.

Here's a pic:

Were you ever able to find out what this was supposed to connect to?

Any help is greatly appreciated

It connects to your throttle body. My car had the same line disconnected.

Yeah, I could see that on my own...but it struck me as odd that there was nothing else connected to it...
