Default VVT-i

This probably is a stupid question, but I was wondering if VVT-i, found in the tc engines, works the same way as a VTEC?
Thanks,
-Aaron

Use the search. This question was discussed earlier this week. Either search on here or google "VVT-i vs. VTEC". No, they are not the same thing.

umm no it doesnt from my knowledge. VVT-i is valve timing .. where as VTEC has to do with an extra set of camshafts where more power is released as a result of a larger cams. i think..

howstuffworks.com search in the auto section. and look for vtec and vvti.

no its not extra cam shafts. the camshafts have multiple lobes of different sizes. at certain rpms the camshaft shifts over utilizing the extra lobes. lower rpms=small lobes
high rpms=large lobes. this is just part of vtec and im not shur what els it consist of

And bear in mind that almost no modern Honda has VTEC anymore. Most of them sport a lesser iVTEC that does the same thing as VVT-i. Only the sports version of iVTEC has the extra cam lobes.
