so would it be worth it to change the cams and heads and the ecu and make the tc vvt-li? would it give much gain? and does anyone know what the difference in hp of the celica vvt-i and vvt-li was?

ok, not sure about all the information given here...but i'm gonna try to clarify...

vvt-i = continuously variable cam timing. this is a technology toyota uses (along with a few other companies such as ferrari, bmw, nissan, etc)

vtec = valve lift technology. this is most commonly associated with honda.

vvtl-i = baisically vvt-i with valve lift
i-vtec = essentially the honda version of vvtl-i...

i-vtec and vvtl-i are similar...the rest have nothing incommon. just wanted to point that out.

umm its MUCH MORE than just that. not to mention theres not a high HP application motor that has the same block as our stock motor. (example ALL "B" series motors B16A,B18B,B18c,B18c1,B20z, all the heads and trannies can be swapped WITH APPROPRIATE MODDING DONE.) like the LS-VTEC. you take a b18b block (non vtec integra) and mate it with a B16,B18c,B18C1 head of your choice. you have to drill new dowle rod holes to aling it right, droll holes for the oil pressure line, and so on. its not a just bolt up mod. if there was a TC motor that had the lift technology, then it could be possible as it would have a 2AZ block. you cant take a celica head and just "put it on a TC" block. god you people sometimes

You all are saying the exact same thing. Hontard man here is just trying to say "Well you guys don't know crap about vtec, and I do cause I'm a hontard."
The topic of this thread is vvt-i vs vvtl-i. The Difference of the 2 is the 2ndary cam lobe in vvtl-i wich is the 'l' part vvtl-i (Variable Valve timing Lift tecnnology - Intelligence (The intelligence refers to the ECU Adjusting valve overlapping to accomodate for Economy based driving, or Performance)
