Default Weapon R cold air box, ram air, and heat wrap

alright guys i have searched and searched and have not found anything about anyone saying that the cold air box does anything. or anyone really talking about it nor the ram air kit with the weapon r intake. i wanted to know if anyone felt any power gains from the cold air box and the ram air intake. and does anyone have any pictures of the setup. and also does heat wrap really help cut back on heat soak on the intake piping. i already have the weapon r intake and ram air kit and i can say that when im cruising and i get on it i feel a lil more power with the ram air kit cause i have it routed directly to the driver side vent with the vent completely drilled out. i was thinking about running cold air box, with ram air kit, and heat wrapping the intake piping. would this be good for power gains or am i just wasting my time and money?

You want to insulate the MAF. The piping isn't as critical. The MAF tells the ECM what the intake air temp is, so keeping it from heatsoaking is your best start.

alright so heat wrap would be a good idea. so i will do it. what about the cold air box? is anyone aware if it cuts back on heat soak as well? for the filter at least. only letting it suck cold air in. or the box taking most of the heat and the filter just sucking in cold air. or actually is it even necessary. cause i know once your going you have good constant air flow under the hood and your still gonna the whatever temperature it is outside air going through the filter whether u have cold air or short ram. so heat wrapping either one, cold air or short ram, will help cut back on heat soak tremendously. so im pretty sure i will heat wrap it. not so sure about the cold air box unless anyone has anything good to say about it.

Short ram not so much. Youre better off wrapping the header/manifold.

already done. i have wrapped and black heat resistent painted my megan header and intake piping still gets hot as hell. think im still going to heat wrap the intake. talked to another guy about wrapping the intake and he said when he did it he said it kept the car running strong. really no heat soak at all.

Well your intake piping will still get hot from conduction. You just wont feel it with the wrapping on. Unless you are going FI to prevent detonation, I say just move on to something else worth the time.
