Weird Ish Going on with my fan
So this problem started yesterday. When I try to cut on the fan and drive with the windows closed, the fan for some reason wont blow any air out, but what's strange is that it will blow air when the car is traveling at highway speeds, but here is another weird thing, it only blows air when the sunroof is cracked open or fully open, but as soon as it fully closes the air stops blowing....I've never heard of something like this happening...any thoughts...??
no prob.
post up if you find anything, im curious.
i remember my drain plug under my cowl got plugged in my cadillac and caused all the water to seep into the pass. side of the cabin.
carpet was soaked, took me like 2 days just to vacuum it all out and blowdry it. lol

yea, I had 98 Altima before this car and it did the same thing you just described except that water happened to drip down on the ECU and fried it
Having the ECU going haywire on a car while your driving it is like trying to get a human vegetable to walk...it was horrible.
Your fan motor isn't working, or just not working as well as it should. The vents will open like they should when you switch between the different settings, but the fan isn't blowing air. The air you feel is blowing in because your speed is forcing air through your ductwork. That's why the windows have to be open. Check your fuses, and if that's not the problem, you might have to get a new fan.

I had a Grand Prix that did the same thing. I was leaking water into the fan motor, and it rusted the bearings, then the motor burned up. You can find the fan behind the glove box in our car. There's also a rubber hose that runs out of the floor board just to the left of it. Be sure to check it for any problems. It's what your condensation from your ac runs out of. I hope this helps you out.
After you fix the fan problem you should really do the cabin filter DIY. I did mine about 6 months ago, and I pulled it out to check it the other day, and to my suprise it was packed full of pine needles and dust (I park under I giant fir tree) I couldn't believe in such a short amount of time I could collect so much junk in the filter and how much of that stuff made it past the little mesh screen up front. So I could only imagine how bad it could be for the components after a few years

Hey guys I wanna replace the fuse because that's what I think it might be, where would I have to get it from, and actually I dont think it's a fuse, it looks more like a relay. Would I have to get it from the dealership?
This is the article for a DIY on the cabin air filter for future reference.

ok so I got the glovebox down and took the cabin air filter out, which was by the way filthy...and I see that the fan is getting juice going to it. What happens is I can get the fan to turn if I stick my finger down in there and start it with my finger, but if you shut the car off, or the fan for about a second and let the fan completely stop, it wont start back turning on it's own again...this is frustrating. I tried spraying compressed air down in there just in case there was something caught that might be preventing the fan from turning. I even sprayed WD40 in there and that still didnt help...does this mean I need a whole new fan??

apparently scion's dont come with the cabin air filter installed, I had my oil changed this weekend and they told me about it and that I needed one and wanted to put one in for me for fifty bucks. I figured if it wasnt with the car when I got it then it wasnt critical. I read my maintaence book when I got home and they dont even mention a cabin air filter, then I came to his site and learned more than I ever wanted to know about them. Heard you can buy them at Napa Parts but I think I am going to do the Home depot thing and make my own as I am interested in seeing if its true about how much dirt it will collect. I figure its scions version of a hepa filter.
