Just wondering if it's worth it to add the k&N air replacement filter from autozone. I added it in my previous car was wondering if i should in my tC??

 

Do it.. I've got the TRD drop-in filter and it works just as good. Bought it from Sparks TRD.. Got a good price on it from them. Also, when you acclerate through 2nd, 3rd and occasionally 4th gear.. the intake whistles.. sounds awesome.

Well, if anything, it has a lifetime warranty. So you never have to replace your filter again. All you gotta do is clean it once in a while.

 

To promote lazyness for users here-on - what is the part # for the K&N drop-in filter from autozone that will fit?

 

In case you don't get a reply, you can just ask in AutoZone. They can pull up the exact part # via the computer.

 

hehe, like once every 80,000 miles! some guys have said even at that age hardly anything comes out.

 

According to K&N the # is 33-2300

 

drop in filters are not worth it. Your butt dyno wont even feel the difference, its all in your head. Save your money up and get a CAI. You'll get real results from that.

 

Do what he said or get a short ram intake.

 

you will feel a little difference with the drop-in. Have you seen the stock air filter? cheap cheap. I have a Trd drop in and I also got it from trd sparks. It's definitely no CAI system but its definitely better than the stock and is yours for life w/cleaning. If you are going to get a CAI at some point, just wait.
Note: drop-ins dont void the warranty.

neither do CAIs unless they cause a problem... this would be better than stock filter though if you add a s/c

 

Save up and just get you a CAI, or atleast a short ram.

 

With a drop in filter, does it make it louder at all? I opened up the air box the other day and i removed the air filter and i could definitly here it growl more. Just wondering if the stock filter is more restrictive. (No i didn't drive around without the filter, just rev'd a few times)

 

Eh, I don't know if "just as good" is enough to spend the extra $$ on something. I would prefer to hear "much better" or "kicks ___" or something similar. "Just as good" doesn't has as much umph to it.

 

Iam just wondering if it gives it a little more growl. Does it sound any louder with just a drop in?

 

no sound... not at all... i had one before my SWR intake, it just whistles more... gas mileage does improve slightly tho..

its not worth it if your lookin for performance...
