What are they going to be doing to the tranny? Im sure everyone would like to know what it takes for a tc auto tranny to hold that much power since no one has broke one to know the weak points yet.

OK, NA head swap from ZPI, say $800 for them to do it.

I've seen 20+ HP gains quoted round SL, is that accurate?

What are the downsides, risks, future 'not covered by warranty' issues that might arise from having this done.

In essence, $800 for 20+ hp seems like a bargain (it's better bang for buck that a MMW header and s pipe combo for example).

But if those figures are right, we know the reward, I want to know what are the risks?

Thanks, ZPI please feel free to chime in, any dynos, etc?

Limey,
Same question here and even add the header and s-pipe to the new head work....should be great
Slight newbie when it comes to engine work but i am learning
heres my questions - new rods, pistons, ported TB is this considered to be part of head work or additional work???
Trying to figure what all would be needed to completely over haul the engine to open the doors for an N/A setup and eventually setup a turbo down the line.

Pro/cons to head/pistons/rods/etc. engine work

A little input on your questions FSU. If you are going pure NA all the way with no plans for turbo, then go with the top end plus some high compression pistons as far as engine building. Talking with ZPI, the head package is good and ready for FI, so if you plan on FI down the road that would be a nice option to get now as well. The difference will be compression. If you plan on going FI down the road build as much as you can without increasing your compression too much, as this can cause issues when you start boosting later. But, either way, the TB and exhaust are good options for you I think.

Exactly. If you're doing pistons, I'd wait until you were ready to go FI. You could run their 8.5 CR pistons N/A but you'd lose power and you definitely wouldn't do the 11 CR pistons if you ever had plans for FI.

I love to have a side by side comaprison of what $4k will get you NA compared to a $4k installed turbo from ZPI.

ZPI products and installation vs ZPI products and Installation

And what other costs (maintenance, tuning, etc.) there would be.

Just as a bare comparison.

IT would be very thoughtful of ZPI to put out an accurate dyno of the head swap.... cuz the gains are just from word of mouth.... no hardcore proof....or is there dynocharts already out?

Well, come around May-July you can expect me to be doing the following: ZPI High Comp Heads, Portwork (if any can be beneficial), new cams (if theyre developed), valvework (if any developed or costs right), valve springs. Any other goodies that may show up along the way.

Theyll be coupled with my current engine setup: MMW headers, CC Full-exhaust (Hi-Flo Cat, Borla), K&N CA Intake, Camcon VVTI/AF computer.

I'm looking for a conservative goal 200whp NA. Not looking for a rocketship, just a nice reliable quick car.
