YOU DON'T NEED TIRES RIGHT AT THE VERY MOMENT THAT YOU GET TURBOED.

YOU DON'T NEED A STRAIGHT PRO TUNE RIGHT OFF HTE BATT IF DEZOD GIVES YOU A SAFE BASE TUNE.

both of which he can get later on down hte road.

he does not necessarily need ALL of htat right now if he wanted to be boosted. sure it would be nice. but not everybody does everything right then there at the moment, i've been running on crappy tires and a street tune for hte past year.

I don't know how light the stock tC wheels are so maybe yeah, maybe no, but if there is a reliable and good sized tire shop near you you might even pick up a great deal on some used tires. (I got toyo proxes 4 for $90 a pair mounted and Michelin Pilot sports for $120 mounted).

Suspension should be priority too-get what you need. There are springs that might only drop it an inch with a stiffer spring rate-good if you have reasons to worry about scraping. Or drop it farther on a good quality brand set-look for progressively wound cold set springs.

Put something like Axxis Ultimate ceramic brake pads on (or whatever else you have reliably heard to be good) and with these changes your car will already feel a whole lot sportier.

Remember-street racing is stupid and I don't care of you put $100,000 into your car-there will always be someone faster.

Having a car that you can actuallly use and like and did yourself-priceless.....

I guess it's a matter of done cheaply versus done right. Lets run through the pros and cons of each, shall we?

Tires
Done cheaply: Man, this new turbo that I put in sure is sweet! I think I'll take it out for it's first drive now! I WONDER WHY I CAN'T STEER MY CAR OR GO ANYWHERE WITH ANY SORT OF URGENCY WITH ALL THIS POWER THAT I'VE UNLEASHED ON MY FRONT WHEEL DRIVE CAR. Oh wait, I remember, it's because the S32A's that come stock on my car are petrified turds with treads in them. You're eventually going to have to replace them anyway because they have a tread life that lasts about as long as an episode of Robot Chicken.

Done right: Man, this new turbo that I put in my car sure is sweet! I think I'll take it out for it's first drive now! OH MY GOD I CAN'T BELIEVE WHAT A DIFFERENCE THESE POTENZA RE-01R'S OR THESE HOT LOOKING AND AMAZINGLY AWESOME (AND NON BIASED) BFG KDW-2'S MAKES! I can actually step on the throttle and my car takes off the way you'd expect it to! And hey, I can also turn under power without being serenaded by the sound of a burning Yokohama factory!

An engine tune
Done cheaply: Well here's this Dezod base tune. It sure is conservative. Why doesn't my car feel as powerful as all the money I've dumped into it? I guess I'll have to go get that professional tune now so that I get the most out of the rest of the money that I've invested in my car. Or I can tune it myself and OH GOD WHY IS MY FACE ON FIRE.

Done right: Here's some currency, Mr. Tuner Man. Because you're trained and experienced with this sort of thing, and because trying to tune my car myself would be about as useful as me sodomizing it, I can be sure that I'll get the most out of the expensive turbo setup that I have under my car, and that it won't blow up in my big dumb face.

well, if you have 6k and you don't have any more but you do have a job and are making money then you can rest on that until you can afford to change everything

obviously it would be advisable to change evrything asap.

but the very moment he wouldn't need it.

why do you need tires at 5 psi?

im not saying don't get them..i'm saying, if you want to keep it under 6k you have to sacrifice alot of things

power for money
traction for money

but then it's

less power + more money = more traction

put some money into the tires, then go get a real tune and you're done.

damn, you don't have to be so harsh. i'm just trying to help.

but fine. 6k wont' net you a turbo

stay away from it. you need 50000000000000 to do it right.

Cheap, Reliable, Fast.

Pick two.

Form everything you've posted over the past two pages, you opted for cheap, un-reliable, and slow.

No thanks, I'll spend 2-3x as much to have a reliable 250-275whp, and have the traction and handling to control it.

Buy a streetable turbo and make 300 hp.... that is all you need to make the tC a fun reliable car IMO. A dezod or Turbotoyotas or T-netics kit will accomplish that. Just make sure to get a conservative base line tune

I've never said he couldn't do it for 6k. In fact, I said he should get a good set of tires and price a pro tune, and then factor all of that out of his 6k, and then start building his turbo dreams from the rest.

Why?

Because I feel that those two things are the most important parts of any setup of any forced induction car, and I'm damn sure not alone in that statement. Without good tires or a good tune, you aren't getting nearly as much out of the rest of the thousands of dollars that you've put into the car. You just can't, it's impossible; so why skimp on it?

don't think i don't agree with you

i damn well agree.

it's just....if you run out of money those are things you could generally do without for a couple of months.

HAHAHAHAHAHA OH GOD!!! CAN'T BREATH!!!

What do you guys think of the Sound Performance kit? Just their base kit, not one of the "call in and customize it" kits. I've always looked at it and wondered why no one ever mentions it, they're a great company and from what I understand from a friend, his custom kit is fully spooled at 2500 rpms and he's capable of 275 whp. If he upped the boost again and retuned, he could easily make over 300 whp.

My personal idea: I originally wanted to spend $5k at most. Everything: wheels, audio, paint, and little performance.

Now since I decided on making my tC into my 2nd car: That $5k will least pay for the turbo kit! Since I have auto: I'm stuck with Turbonetics. Not including the whole tuning and updating. I'm probably looking least $10k on everything (audio, wheels, peformance, and exterior!)

My theory is, if I have to keep turbo kit in boxes until I get the update parts. And the car's whole project isn't done until 2012... so be it. I'm not in a rush; rather get it done right than let me get screwed over.

Xpresscion,

You don't necessarily need to stick with Turbonetics - although I think that's a wonderful kit. Mine is going on this weekend (finally!). Dezod also makes a kit that's about to be used on the Auto tranny.. give Paul at www.dezod.com and let him help you. Then you can decide on whether you want T'netics or Dezod.
