Yea def should be covere dunder warranty it doesnt look like u have anything done to this at all! Judging by the spipe and header connection
If you do end up needing to buy a motor i picked mine up for $800 with only 4k on it!! Its down in TX but still a great deal
And i think the yard still had a couple 2azs with low miles when i bought mine from them

I threw a rod in my xB as well, though it had a CAI. Dealer wouldn't cover because they claimed hydrolock, even though the roads were dry when it went out. Another guy in the club had crank walk on his tC and needed his motor replaced as well. Both of us just got a used long block and haven't had any issues. Check here for prices:

You should be able to find an engine for $250-$1,000 depending on miles, quality and salvage yard pricing. I even bought a third engine now that I'm building, $250 with 52k miles on it, and from the teardown it looks like it would have lasted another 100k.
I would suggest you not have the dealer replace the engine if it's not warranty. They most likely have the highest labor rates and may not even install a used engine for liability reasons. Find a decent local shop, or a friend who works on cars. These things are not difficult to swap, and can be changed in 2 days if you've never worked on a tC before, 6 hours with experience.

as long as you have receipts or something to show you changed your oil ever 3-4k miles.. your good. you have to prove to them that you did maintain it properly.. same thing happened to my brothers mazda.. he made up an entire book showing when he changed the oil cause he didnt keep track.. they gave his warranty at like 40k miles..

That's easily a warranty issue. If they say no, tell them it's going to cost them a hell of a lot more to pay for a lawyer.
And why is this in the F/I section?
