Default 5 inch catback exhaust?

i know what you're thinking. it's probably something that's been covered before and you've already c&p'd the 'search' picture for the 'use the search button noob' reference. well, sorry to burst your bubble there, but this is what i had in mind.

i know there are no turbo kits available for the '07 models as of yet. i've heard of some people fabricating their own set up with some t&e run tests with a p.b.s. all that aside and down to the exhaust system is where the true potential lies. you've heard of 240's w/ sr20det's just clipped in and running on open exhaust. this set up is not the most practical, nor the quietest, but yields are surprisingly high. i'd say about 20whp over any other exhaust system out there. this is also true for any other f/i cars. better flow means more power. right? well, i'd taken this into consideration and i'm gonna get myself a 5 inch custom catback w/ no cat, no resonator. just a straight thru 5 inch piping. the diameter of this cat will suffice for being as a resonator in whole, taking up all that extra noise, and at the same time, yield about the same gains like that of running with an open exhaust. it might look something to this effect, but much more clean and mean:

*tell me what you think. i can't believe our cars don't come stock like this.

Have you thought about a loss in back pressure? I don't know how much that will come into play here, but it is something that I have seen discussed in applications such as this.

please dont give your tC a huge butthole.... make something like a custom, reasonably-sized true dual exhaust.

I think that this whole idea would destroy the clean look of the car as well. The tC is a stylish car and I think that would be incredibly out of taste. As far as a performance increase, if it truly gives 20hp more, and you don't care about looks, then go for it........ oh, but put a honda symbol on it.

With an exhaust that big, you might let squirrels and mice get into your engine!

Back pressure in a turbo application? You can't be serious. You actually want a better flowing exhaust.

As for 5" think about the high HP Supra guys that run 4" to 5" piping or mufflers. Drag cars also have big piping. I wouldn't go any more than 3" on a tC.

the dual exhaust is a buttload of backpressue. have you seen some of the set ups? it's basically from a 2.5" to 3" and from the axle it cuts into two seperate sections, which means you're getting like 1.25" to 1.5" for both ends. that is not good for the turbo. you might as well just go with a single diameter size exhaust.
